In conlusion, MSN filters any message with "download.php" string inside of it.

To test our theories further, we tested this with MSN to GAIM communication, as well as GAIM to MSN communication. In both cases, any message with "download.php" was filtered out.

We then tested GAIM to GAIM communication, and once again any messages with "download.php" was filtered out.

We (me and Esfan38) came to conclude that this filtering is done at MSN routing server level, since GAIM reports "User has closed the conversation window" everytime any message with "download.php" in it is send across the network, independent who send it and with what client the user send it.

Therefore, just becareful, and note that that any message with "download.php" will never be delivered.

I guess it's the new verision that has this filter. Althou I think it's weird, "Hey go download MSN" <- *Filters it away*

No, it's not the new version of the client software. It's in the MSN servers you connect to. My first reaction was that some programmer wanted to protect clients from malicious downloads...but only download.php is censored, not download.asp. >_> So much for trying to give M$ credit. They're only filtering out a download script from a competing product. >_>

Certainly maybe this can be true... and I wonder if this only happens only in MSN Messenger, 'cause sometimes something similar happens on Trillians or other 3rd parties software...

When I type a sentence after a few moment from the last chat, sometimes a message appears saying that the message hasn't been delivered. But can be a different reason though... :\

I've done a few tests as well about this matter and other similar bugs with some ppl and come to conclusion that also this things doesn't only happen on MSN.

Also there's another curious thing about showing avatars in MSN that sometimes work on some members but not on anothers, though that's a different story...

Heard somewhere that msn mail blocks any mail that doesn't come from a microsoft related mail service. don't remember where or when i heard this, but its recent. you guys wanna test it for me? i never use msn mail, but my macro-econ proffessor uses it and hes not getting alot emails that were sending.....he might give me some extra credit if i find out why....thanks in advance.

That could be related to an attempt to block out spam. So your proffessor's email probably filters emails because there is a lot of them send to him, and so MSN thinks he is probably being spammed, and thus protects him by blocking his emails.

yead....but thats a pretty bad spam filter if it just goes my the number alone. i know used to(not anymore....poor me) get tons of email from tons of different forum buddies and it never block any of em. the only wrong thing that it block was from a shady site that i registered at and even then i know why they block it. then again, i use yahoo...so i cant say for msn. but if they think its spam, it would have gone to the spam folder or somthing.
